OSP Engineer II

Position Summary:
Manages, coordinates and engineers’ projects to avoid third party conflict with Clients network fiber optic cables. Plans, coordinates and directs project schedules to ensure the network assets are protected from proposed or ongoing construction activities. Monitor internal and external construction activities from initiation through delivery. Determine project costs and ensure contractual deliverables are on schedule and within the approved budget. Assist OSP Engineer I / Outside Plant (OSP) with engineering and or inspection issues while supplying mentorship.
Major Responsibilities:
Works independently on complex projects and network conflicts of diverse projects. Responsible for determining when excavation/construction projects pose jeopardy to the Clients fiber optics network, negotiate a resolution that removes the conflict, or engineer a cable relocation project, bid/award proper contracts/work, and supervises relocation of Clients fiber facilities eliminating the jeopardy. Assesses washout and near washout conditions and engineers and affects necessary repairs and or corrections. Incumbents of this position will operate independently with little to no supervision/guidance from their manager. Demonstrates excellent judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining conflict resolutions and is extremely proactive in mitigating design and field conflicts. Understand and implement design plans, Scope of Work, project objectives, Outside Plant Engineering and construction methods. Reports to Regional Manager.

Position Summary:
This position requires a qualified person to perform work in the field application of all types of outside plant design and inspection. This person must be capable of making on-site decisions with regard to new builds, relocation, and protection projects to ensure proper construction and company guidelines are followed. The engineer/inspector ensures the ultimate in construction quality, cost control, “on time” project completion and must be capable of documenting all field changes and quality performance required for evaluations. The OSP Inspector acts as liaison between the client, UFS engineer, and contractor; remains on job site and observes and monitors all construction activities; reviews and documents all changes to the scope of work; maintains job construction file throughout the project; prepares detailed As-Builts drawings; verifies existing field conditions with the contractor and exercises responsibility toward job safety and compliance with Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) requirements. This position protects the Clients fiber network from risk of fiber damage during construction of the project and has the authority to shut down construction at the site to protect Clients investment in plant. This position does not act as a construction manager.
Major Responsibilities:
inspects the construction of all Fiber Optic Cables for the Clients facilities that are required to support the expansion of the Clients fiber optic networks; assist in the construction monitoring of the selected construction contractors; participate in the development of contact documents; develop, monitor and control the project schedule; expedite the construction and completion of the project through the coordination of construction activities with equipment installation, Outside Plant & Inside Plant and operations personnel; communicate project activity and status to management; provide complete project documentation; identify problems and their solutions; ensure the quality of the system through vendor and field inspections; perform inspection of selected contractors for final site cleanup; develop and approve punch-list completion; and expedite construction work to meet the required schedule.

- Ability to read and understand OTDR trace results
- Past experience with Long Haul Networks Required

OSP Cad Operator

Position Summary:
This position requires a highly qualified individual in the operation of computer-aided design and
drafting equipment to produce engineering drawings and records used and specified by the
Company. All drawings shall be completed in AutoCAD format and route sections are to
be created in real-world coordinates by using UTM NAD 83. Company Drafting Department can
provide templates that use specific layers, line types, etc.
Major Responsibilities:
A CAD operator will be involved in the construction and coordination process, and work with the project managers, engineers, architects and subcontractors. A CAD operator will also be involved in drafting and designing. A CAD operator should work heavily with AutoCAD in an office setting and draft and design Fiber Route, new site builds to Clients Property, Switch, POP, Regen sites and objectives. A CAD operator will work directly with project Engineer, job foremen, trades personnel, and superintendents to project field verifications and conditions. A CAD operator will mostly be involved in CAD and drafting, however, there will be times when the candidate will be required to conduct field verification and conflict resolution on job sites. A CAD operator may require drafting redlines, provide design and calculation assistance, adhere to CAD procedures for layering, line types, colors, and standard drawing procedures for sheet layout, and work with detailed sketches, notes, and layouts.

- Familiarity with wide variety of splicing equipment and techniques
